Princess Raisa ana’Marianna and former thief Han Alister are going through life changing coming-of-age trials. Their struggles will force them together briefly while a power-hungry wizard works to gain control of the throne and magic threatens to tear their lives and families apart. Well-integrated world building, character development, and suspense make this book great. The ending is unexpected and a good set up for the rest of the series.
