The ebook-only formatting allows for a lot of freedom. Click-through links to behind-the-scenes notes, photographs, and definitions of out-of-use words make for a fun and fascinating reading experience. The book is packed with trivia: Bogart’s love of chess, the censorship of Renault’s sex-for-visas scheme, and the forming of Rick’s final decision and iconic ending line. The letters and production dramas are amusing, while the workarounds required to to war-time rationing are eye-opening: every costume was crafted from cotton, and almost every scene was filmed on a soundstage. Would highly recommend for any Casablanca fan or film buff.
